Chlorine is being produced only when the pool pump is running. It also has a 5amp draw which is the equivalent of having an extra pool pump running. No reserve chlorine to maintain a  healthy, clear pool if pump is off.  (power outages, pump failure)
 

  

Minerals ions are being produced only when pool pump is running but will build a reserve ion level that will last for weeks with the pool pump off, maintaining a healthy, clear pool. It draws only 500ma which is the equivalent to a 15w light bulb
